Fourth Year Chinese 1

Description

This course is designed to help students consolidate their Chinese linguistic competence, and develop their knowledge of vocabulary, grammar structures, idiosyncratic language usage, and composition of Chinese characters.  Students will be trained in all four aspects of language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing. Through various forms of language practices, students are expected to read and listen skillfully, and to develop their oral and written abilities at discourse and rhetorical level. Another objective of this course is to develop students’ cultural literacy by readings about contemporary China. Students will gain deeper understanding of modern Chinese society through self –research and class discussion. The class is conducted exclusively in Chinese.
